Gameplay with Encoded Architectural Tile Sets: A Computational Framework for Building Massing Design Using the Wave Function Collapse Algorithm
The wave function collapse (WFC) algorithm is a procedural generation algorithm that produces images by arranging a collection of tiles according to rules about adjacency and frequency. This dissertation implements the WFC algorithm in three dimensions using mesh geometries and voxels. The research explores the implementation of the algorithm in the domain of early-stage architectural design and adapts the algorithmic decision making to better facilitate architectural design goals.
